Metal Surfaces

Can I Apply LaRosa Limewash to Metal?

LaRosa Limewash is not recommended for regular use on metal surfaces. Limewash is designed primarily for absorbent mineral surfaces, so metal does not provide the same type of surface for the limewash to bond and perform as intended. That said, lime wash has a long history of use on corrugated metal in Australia. Early Australian settlers used white lime wash on corrugated metal roofs in hot, arid regions, where the light coloured finish helped reflect heat from the surface. Limewash has also been used decoratively to create an aged, weathered appearance on metal for film productions, theatre sets and other temporary applications. Its naturally matte finish can give metal an aged, mineral appearance without introducing a glossy coating.

Because metal is not a standard substrate for LaRosa Limewash, we do not warrant its performance, adhesion or durability on metal surfaces.
